Have done 5 ceramic coatings and have been more than leased with each.

Critical thing is FOLLOW BOTTLE DIRECTIONS IN DETAIL.
Paint can not have wax on it in order to apply ceramic coating.
(ideally should be claybared before applying ceramic coating.)
Ceramic coating should be applied indoors (garage, carport, etc)
Do 3'x3' sections at a time, and polish as you complete
MicroRags have to be the polishing type. A t-shirt won't make it with any Ceramic Coating.
After completed Ceramic coating vehicle can not get wet for at least 24 hours.

Tim D have had my dream car for 13 yrs..."Waxed" it 6 or 7 times a year...so much work and had to keep waxing it to keep the paint shiny. Even the best paste wax is washed off with rain and especially Dawn soap.

Newer car to the left had Ceramic Coating done (took 8 hours) 5 years ago and wax never came close to the shine it has and after 5 yrs still beads. Most washing is just rinsing off paint with a garden house. Ceramic Coating is basically a layer of glass over the paint surface.

On youtube there are guys that have a channel that do tests on all brands of ceramic coatings. NONE last many years. Anyone who gives you a several year warranty I would avoid. Maybe 2 years for the pro installed versions but after that is pushing it.

Home installed ceramic is the way to go. I use Griots garage as its easy to put on and last at least a year (tested by youtuber I watch) and I do mine twice a year once in spring and once before winter. I used to use a acrylic coating called Klasse which was out before ceramic ever came out. I haven't used wax in twenty years. Why would you. Its inferior 100 year old tech. Plus ceramic can go on as easy as spray wax.

I almost used Adams Graphene but saw a few stories about it hazing and said Nope looks to hard to put on. Went with the easy one. Maybe not as long lasting but good enough.

Used the same product on my Maverick. Easy on and easy off. Looks great and beads water like no other product I've used. Can rinse dirt off with just a hose end soap gun. Rinse with plain water. I have no chips after 14,000 miles. Cactus Grey.

Just curious, aside from the cost, would it be better to have a proshop add 1 or 2 coats of clear?

Several months ago I used Adams Graphene on my white truck. I read nothing but good reviews about this product.

The product went on easily and I thought the truck looked good. Several days later I noticed there was a haze on the truck. I tried to rub it off with no luck. During the last two months my truck developed black streaks on the paint and I could not get them off with any car product I had at home. Finally I decided to put wd40 on a rag, and the streaks came right off.

i just left the truck the way it was and 2 weeks ago I decided to call Adams. They were very nice and the representative said they had no calls about problems with the product. I then decided to look online how to fix my problem. The first video that popped up was from Adams titled, Oh no I screwed up my ceramic coating.

I then called back Adams and they agreed to send me some hand polish to correct the problem.

Three hours of polishing and my truck looks great again. Some of the coating was extremely hard to polish an I was surprised how many small nicks were in the paint. I never had a vehicle that chipped as much as this truck.

Hope whoever uses this product has a better experience than me.

Glad it's fixed. I have always thought it silly for people to rush out an buy the latest and trendiest products. All this ceramic crap is nonsense and I won't fall for the CON.

Maybe I'm just lazy, but IMO, conventional wax is just too much fn work, and it never lasts very long, considering the time & energy expended to apply it.

To OP: Did you previously put any other product on the truck paint, before you decided to use the Adams product?
not to mention you will never get plain car wax to do what good ceramics does. I have a few cars done with ceramic pro. Really like how easy they are to clean and how long they stay clean. My black car I could not keep clean till the ceramic guy made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. Now it stays much cleaner and very easy to wash most the time hose it off and blow it dry.

I have one rx8 that is normal wax and one ceramic. After storage or long time in between washes it really shows hose down the ceramic and it still beads water and basically hoses off clean. Other one water sits like normals on the car and has to be re waxed often.
Picture ceramics like a lifetime wax job.

Simply not true. I have several with ceramic. My rs is going in 8 years and works like brand new.
my wife’s edge is 7 years drive year round in Michigan winters still works great. Both are ceramic pro. Same with my Mazda 6 years and works great. Is it the product maybe but I’ve also had long term good luck with gteq also. Only one time did I think it failed. Found out it had buildup from road grime. Sprayed with a fallout cleaner. Let sit while it turned purple. Hoses off and be water beaded rithb off again. Will I do my maverick with it probably not as it’s my work truck and probably won’t wash it much after the first few weeks. But it’s a truck to save money.

We had Ziebart do the coating on our Mav, and it is warrantied for life as long as we bring it in yearly for "maintenance". Both it and our 2003 Grand Cherokee are undercoated by them also.
I do everything I can to not use a drive thru car wash. I wash and chamois both myself. Have a utility sink in the garage with a small hot water heater and a long enough hose to reach outside on my driveway and will use it even during the winter to wash them as much as possible and to hose off the underneath if they travel when roads have been treated. I even use a soft bristled brush to get in the places where salt can gather. In retirement wife and I will get out and do what we need to when roads are "clean" and dry and kind of hibernate when not.
Plus year round about every 3rd wash and chamois I let them fully dry in the garage and take about 15 or so minutes to use a soft slightly damp rag with a small amount of good old hard shell liquid turtle wax to apply a light coat all over on both in order to keep a constant light coat of wax on both. Being a light coat it dries quickly and easily buffs out.

I just keep it simple and use Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions ceramic wax. Easy on and off and can be applied to every surface of the truck. Just needs to be done once a year. Amazing how much water this sheds after applied and the beautiful shine and silky smooth paint surface.

I have been using this product since I got my Mav. I use it once every 2 month. Just spray it on and rinse it of !! First time you have to do it twice. You also must use the yellow stuff to wash the car. Both products work together. Only for hand wash.

If you use what OP used (or Cerakote or similar - not a commercial product applied in a shop), you do a small area at a time and wipe it off right after applying it. Then buff it immediately. The wiping/buffing requires much less effort and IMO, faster than old-school wax. But the real advantage of Cerakote, etc. is, the shine and dirt/water repellent properties last so much longer than wax. It's like coating your truck with Teflon or similar non-stick coating.

If you previously used another product on the paint, you should first strip that, like others have mentioned.
The adam's spray ceramic is in a completely different class than the cerakote stuff. The cerakote is nowhere near as good. Adam's spray is a step below a real ceramic coating and a step above the cerakote type stuff. I've tried both, threw out the cerakote and kept using the Adam's - it was that much better. It works so well precisely because it's hard to remove - it's durable. But you do need to take great care in prep and application. And it will periodically have to be stripped and re-done.

That's nice.
Enjoy.

I think you miss understood what I said. I think its a very long lasting product No question as I have seen the tests on youtube of it,. BUT my reason for NOT using it is I have seen enough complaints about it hazing to use something easier even it its not as long lasting as the Adams.

Haven't had any issues with the exact same Adams Graphene Advanced on mine. It did the rainbow effect, buffed off super easy, and still looks great months later. I waterless wash with their CS3 to touch it up, as it also leaves some graphene/ceramic behind.

That said, I had a HORRIBLE experience with Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Graphene. It left streaks, all over the truck that would not buff out with microfiber cloths. I finally grabbed a non-abrasive cleaner wax, an old can of Liquid Glass, which took the streaks right off.

With Ceramic coatings, and their Graphene is a ceramic coating, the paint needs to be truly clean. I think many of the issues are the dealers don't properly prop the vehicles off the hauler, and there is invisible residue left behind from the protective sheets on the hood. My streaking was 95% on the hood and roof, right where that stuff is usually applied, along with rain spots, visible when wet or at the right angle.

If using a product like that, use the prep spray, or a water spot remover, to thoroughly pre-clean the vehicle, then wipe with alcohol mix or something to remove any remnants of the cleaner.
