Several months ago I used Adams Graphene on my white truck. I read nothing but good reviews about this product.

The product went on easily and I thought the truck looked good. Several days later I noticed there was a haze on the truck. I tried to rub it off with no luck. During the last two months my truck developed black streaks on the paint and I could not get them off with any car product I had at home. Finally I decided to put wd40 on a rag, and the streaks came right off.

i just left the truck the way it was and 2 weeks ago I decided to call Adams. They were very nice and the representative said they had no calls about problems with the product. I then decided to look online how to fix my problem. The first video that popped up was from Adams titled, Oh no I screwed up my ceramic coating.

I then called back Adams and they agreed to send me some hand polish to correct the problem.

Three hours of polishing and my truck looks great again. Some of the coating was extremely hard to polish an I was surprised how many small nicks were in the paint. I never had a vehicle that chipped as much as this truck.

Hope whoever uses this product has a better experience than me.

Sorry to hear that, but glad you got it resolved. Any pics of your truck before and after polishing?

And... let's say I didn't have interest in watching a ceramic coating video. What did you do wrong?

Not to sound insensitive but what's wrong with plain ole car wax? That's all I use on my vehicles and pleased with the results. The paint on my 14 year old ram still looks like new.do today's vehicles have inferior paint?

Maybe I'm just lazy, but IMO, conventional wax is just too much fn work, and it never lasts very long, considering the time & energy expended to apply it.

To OP: Did you previously put any other product on the truck paint, before you decided to use the Adams product?

Curious how long it takes to apply the ceramic coating? Takes about 2 hours to do conventional wax on my full size ram.took about an hour and a half to do the maverick. I do it every spring.

I used the same product and did run into some issues but IMO it's still a good product.

The longer you wait to buff after application the more likely it is you will get a haze or streaks. I splattered a corner of my windshield with it about 6 month ago and the spots are still clearly visible and will not clean off with glass cleaner. I left them just to see how long they would stay and this product definitely has staying power.

Surface prep is key - the paint should be cleaned, stripped of any other coating and smoothed with a clay bar before prep. The spray is temperature sensitive and I've found it's best to do one panel at a time and to remove it basically as soon as you finish applying it.

Even doing so, mine developed a haze after using the product for about a year. I had reapplied it roughly every 3 months and the haze is visible in bright sunshine which is is no doubt just excess product building up. I will strip it and smooth the paint with a buffer and either compound or polish before reapplying the graphene. As it is, it still looks shiny and beads water nicely. Good enough for me.

All that said, IMO this product gives the best, longest lasting shine with the least amount of effort out of any polish (excluding a full ceramic coating which is much more difficult and labor intensive to apply).

Oh my, Stealership talked me into a sealer that 'guarantees' the paint for 7 years, haha, Resistol N2 and Crystal Fusion on the windshield. The paint still chips but so did the Prius, hopefully the company will still be in business when I try to get it fixed....just saying.

If you use what OP used (or Cerakote or similar - not a commercial product applied in a shop), you do a small area at a time and wipe it off right after applying it. Then buff it immediately. The wiping/buffing requires much less effort and IMO, faster than old-school wax. But the real advantage of Cerakote, etc. is, the shine and dirt/water repellent properties last so much longer than wax. It's like coating your truck with Teflon or similar non-stick coating.

If you previously used another product on the paint, you should first strip that, like others have mentioned.

I realize it's not a ceramic coating, but everytime I wash my XL, I dry it using Turtle Wax's "Wax & Dry." I do this about once every six weeks or so and it adds no time to my hand washing. In fact, using it may actually speed up the time spent drying the truck with a super soft microfiber fluff towel. I also realize that it's not exactly convential wax. The rest of the wash times, I use my pressure washer with a good car washing soap and let it dry naturally and still don't get water spots.

I do plan on putting a ceramic coat of some kind, but will continue to use the Wax & Dry to dry the truck after hand washing.

Sorry you had that experience. I had excellent results on my Carbonized Gray, as mentioned above prep is key to any successful coating. It sounds like you may have waited too long to buff it and maybe did not get 100% level on the coat due to that?

Great products, they just take some care in application. 100% superior to conventional waxes.

nothing but it’s also 2023. Wax is dead. Cleaning products are sooo advanced now. Take your wax that lasts a month vs a basic synthetic sealant that last a year. Or a legit ceramic that lasts 2 3 5 years.

the paint on your 14 year ram looks new because of you. Wax does perfectly fine there are just better options now to make your life easier. IMO you should try a nice sealant then follow up with your favorite wax on top.

How large of an area did you do at a time, how long did you let it sit, and do you recall the air temp/humidity? In doing my own ceramic for the first time recently (another brand), I learned it can flash/cure very quickly depending on conditions. It’s a lot like working with super glue.
