Going uphill at interstate speeds is going to wreck your gas mileage, but you can go over 110 fairly easily. You'll end up with low 30s MPG for the whole trip.

PLANING a drive from the northern Tiers of PA in my Maverick hybrid to Myrtle Beach. Will be taking interstates most of the way. Some speed limits reach 70+ mile per hour. Will my 2024 Hybrid be able to handle it? Anyone have any experience making such a trip?
I drove my 2024 Maverick Hybrid from Northeast Massachusetts to Naples Florida and back. No issues at all. The Hybrid effortlessly gets into the 80-90 MPH range. If you stay around 65 MPH gas mileage will be better of course

I drove my 25 Hybrid up highway 130 from San Antonio to Georgetown last year. While most of that road is 80 MPH, there is a portion of it from I-10 northward that's 85. The only downside was my MPG dropped to the low 20s while doing 85.

I think this post is the official sign that we've run out of topics here on Maverick Truck Club. Either that or you have to be trolling, there's no other explanation. What an idiotic post.
There are no stupid questions. Just stupid answers.

Have driven my 24 hybrid XL several times from NEPA to Ocean City, MD. Shorter drive than what you are planning, but should be no issues

I have driven my 2024 Hybrid between Sacramento, CA, and Seattle, WA twice since I bought it. No problems at all. The ride was smooth and comfortable. The MPG even improved a little.

You are kidding right? Bought my 23 Lariat in Del Rey, Fla in Nov 23 after waitng 11 months for my order. Bought it there because all the dealers in Los Angeles wanted wayyy over list, some as high as 10k. Paid sticker. Got what l wanted, every option box. Drove South to Key West, then back North and across the U.S.. visited friends everywhere. Never below 75 on the interstate. Truck drove like a dream. Notbto worry.

I live in de and Just got back from Tennessee in my 25 Hybrid. Lots of 70 mph driving. Not only did it handle it easily, but passing at these speeds was a piece of cake. Fun and comfortable drive

Now the boys all thought I'd lost my sense
And telephone poles looked like a picket fence
They said, "Slow down, I see spots
The lines on the road just look like dots"

Brakes are good, tires fair..."

I've taken my 2016 C-Max hybrid on 1,200 mile trip doing 70-80 miles for a full tank. Never had a problem.

I'm not trying to put anybody down, but it isn't as if the Maverick is some kind of sub-standard vehicle that is only intended to carefully creep around town and be babied while doing it. The thing ain't a "Smart Car!" The Maverick is a modern vehicle made to modern standards to meet modern expectations.

My wife and I load ourselves and two large dogs and completely fill the bed w/ our stuff and make a 1000 mile trip south in the fall and then back north again in the spring; keeping up a pretty constant 70-75 mph between (infrequent) gas stops, maintaining an overall 37+mpg. We have been very comfortable and safe and the Mav has been completely reliable w/ no signs of instability, problems w/ wind and wind effects from other vehicles, no problems on wet highways. I've owned many, many vehicles over the years and have covered every US state, most of Canada, and much of Europe in just about every type of vehicle imaginable. So far the Mav had been as good a ride as most of the past vehicles and far better than many of them. Fear not! Get out there and go!

I wouldn't put the smart car down. I owned a 2005 diesel cabrio and drove it Toronto to Florida twice. It was carefully designed and had standard stability control features built in that far exceed anything a Maverick has to offer, even 16 years later. The other safety systems were also carefully integrated into the overall design as well. I know it looks small, but don't assume it is a piece of junk.
Even did a lap of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

More the question - will you be able to handle the seat for extended sit times?

Any new vehicle with low mileage/usage has the opportunity to surprise you on it's first extended road trip, for items that might have eventually had a problem anyway at so many miles/hours of use.

Have you not been on the interstate yet to get a feel for it?
That could be a likely bigger problem, not knowing how it handles at high speeds in emergency maneuvers.
Long trip you are increasing your odds of idiot drivers around you.

I'd say if you take corners at 5 mph just because - pick it up and learn how it feels.
Good insights! I’ll add to your seat tips - it feels different after 600 miles in the saddle than it does after 62 miles. Pack a pillow just in case.

I used to do endurance bicycle riding with a half dozen of 300+ mile days. Would wear 2 pairs of padded bike shorts sometimes - first pair inside out.

“Eat before you’re hungry, drink before you’re thirsty” was important for marathon bicycling - not so important for marathon driving though!

When I'm in the truck any longer than 2 hours I need to add a pillow to the seat. There just isn't enough padding on me or the seat.😲

Yep - squirming and clinching only helps for maybe 30 seconds. I carry a pillow too just in case.
