PLANING a drive from the northern Tiers of PA in my Maverick hybrid to Myrtle Beach. Will be taking interstates most of the way. Some speed limits reach 70+ mile per hour. Will my 2024 Hybrid be able to handle it? Anyone have any experience making such a trip?

It will explode and burst into a ball of flames killing everyone in sight...

That's what has happened to all (3) of my Hybrid Mavericks over the last 5 years when I make the 1000 mile round fishing trip from Southern Maryland to Erie, PA 6 times a year and doing 75-80+ mph on the PA Turnpike trying to keep up with traffic.. The trips generally average ~40 mpg.

I purchased all my Mavericks primarily as my fishing trip trucks to keep the miles off my other daily drivers.

Maverick fishing trip number ~28 is scheduled for July, I have my fire suit standing by...

;) ;)

I live in Florida where the speed limit on the interstates are 70mph, I drive my hybrid all the time going from 60 to 75 mph without any difference from my regular gas car, except the gas mileage drops to about 33 mph. Nothing to worry about.

I think this post is the official sign that we've run out of topics here on Maverick Truck Club. Either that or you have to be trolling, there's no other explanation. What an idiotic post.

Planing a trip of planning a trip??:wink: Trip wll be smooth unless there is rain and you are driving to fast. Your vehicle may hydroplane and that is not good. So just plan on a nice trip and let the Mav do its job!!

More the question - will you be able to handle the seat for extended sit times?

Any new vehicle with low mileage/usage has the opportunity to surprise you on it's first extended road trip, for items that might have eventually had a problem anyway at so many miles/hours of use.

Have you not been on the interstate yet to get a feel for it?
That could be a likely bigger problem, not knowing how it handles at high speeds in emergency maneuvers.
Long trip you are increasing your odds of idiot drivers around you.

I'd say if you take corners at 5 mph just because - pick it up and learn how it feels.

My Maverick handles the speed on I-15 in Utah just fine.
At 80 mph, I choose not to do my usual +5 mph over. 😁

I agree, 80 is fast enough,,,,,,

Now the boys all thought I'd lost my sense
And telephone poles looked like a picket fence
They said, "Slow down, I see spots
The lines on the road just look like dots"

So I shouldnt post that I was thinking of driving to Home Depot 10 miles away and may exceed speed of 60MPH (gasp) and was thinking of putting 4 bags of mulch in the back (I want to do 5 but dont want to push it)

I was planning on getting all my fluids changed so I am ready for this trip but was wondering if I should install air bags in the back to help with this heavy load?

Is there any other tips or tricks anyone has before I set off on this journey?
Should I pick up an extra spare tire or will I be OK?

Don't forget to have a fire extinguisher in your truck and while driving one hand on the fire extinguisher. You never know when the truck might go Kaaaaaboooooooooooom!

Ever thought about putting an ejection seat in?

Some years back, the “Sellers” of autos would boast “all highway miles”. Is that now a “bad” thing?

Change the air in your tires before you go. Live a little get the 5th bag. Take some snacks and a flashlight since you are traveling so far. Do you plan on camping or driving straight through? Good luck and god speed. And be sure to tell someone your route in case no one hears from you for a few days they will know where to start the search. And post pics or it didn’t happen.
