Ford and Toshiba (they make more than TVs!) partnered in US made hybrid motors for our Mavericks, and are working together on the next generation hybrid motors.

Interesting, since Ford took their eCVT hybrid motor design and build in-house (away from Toshiba) when they first came out with the Mav Hybrid in 2022.

“We were able to design the in-house motor [which Ford engineering sources said is currently manufactured by Toshiba] in such a way that it shares the footprint and all the transmission interfaces with the machine that’s used in Escape,” Hajiabdi said. “That was one of the major enablers, the synergies, in keeping the cost down without affecting other components.”

Maybe they later added motors from Toshiba and that is why Hybrids are not as constrined as they use to be.
