Definitely add, IMHO. It’s the only regret I have for my ‘24 lariat hybrid. Don’t recall why I didn’t add it when I ordered.

Briefly considered ordering a 25 to replace my 24, just for that.
4K tow wasn't available on 24 hybrid! It's new for 25 hybrid (along w/ AWD ...which the 4k tow requires).

it's the same.

purely speculating, but I doubt it matters much for the hybrid since it has a e-cvt and doesn't have to be concerned about the gear ratios in the ecoboost's 1st & 3rd gear.
Up until now, the Hybrid has a completely different axle ratio, much taller, but works well with the electric and E-CVT transmission. I'm not sure what they've changed for the hybrid for towing purposes in 2025. I'll have to dig for information.

Also note that the axle ratio in the EB models affects all gears, not just 1st and 3rd (maybe I was misreading what you meant). At highway speeds in 8th gear, you're turning a bit higher RPM (about 100 higher) at 70 mph than you would be with the standard axle ratio. Helpful for towing.

Just ordered a 2025 lariat 10/04

should I get the 4k tow?

never towed nor have a reason too.

effect mpg?resale?
Um,if you have no reason to tow....you don't need it. We tow our 3100 lb boat with our maverick. I get 32 mpg not towing.

Not applicable to the Hybrid with the eCVT, which OP apparently ordered.
OP ordered a MY2025 Hybrid... which has both AWD and 4K Tow as options now... but I have no idea what that means in terms of ratios...

I would get the 4k. However at least get the hitch. It can be used for more things than just towing. I don't know what the difference in cost is. I would think it's nominal.

Ahhhh - I missed that little detail. From another site, I see that the hybrid has a 2.91 final drive ratio (axle ratio) a PDF that I have open on my iPad. I'll see if I can copy/paste the link. I'm on the PC now and I'm not typing out the 50 characters of the link. Old, lazy, and not a great typist/keyboardist.

Anyway, it also looks like the standard axle in the EB is now 3.81 for all models. That's assuming that this site is correct. Link will be in another post.

I got it and fx4 as well. I’ve only towed a log splitter so far, and yes you get a lot of add’l cooling stuff and 3.81 axle.

Trailer brake controller too…

Edit to add mpg. 26-27

right, I did mean that the nearly trivial 5% difference between the 3.63 and 3.81 axle gearing is most impactful accelerating from a stop, in 1st and 3rd gear.

yes, of course it applies to all 9 gears including reverse, but especially with an automatic transmission behind a turbocharged engine, I can't see that 5% difference mattering very much and I have owned a Maverick with each gear ratio.

Pushing the tow/haul button on the hybrid gives it about 300 rpm more at highway speeds. Does not need a physical gear change for towing.

I live in a hot environment and I like to go off-roading, which can mean extended periods of being under moderated loads while going very slow. The upgraded cooling made it a no-brainer for me. That and if I ever need to rent a piece of equipment, like say a mini excavator, I know I can safely get it home and back because the 4K package has the built in brake controller. Hell, now that I have the Mav with 4K tow package, I’m seriously considering going on RVshare or similar site and renting a 17 foot camp trailer, even though that is not my usual, preferred method of vacationing.
