Received my tremor last week. So far, everything has been perfect except for this sewing machine sound that from what I understand is pretty normal for ecobost engines.

Are there any fixes/suggestions? I’ve seen that it’s likely the fuel injectors.

I know there are some threads talking about this already but I just wanted to organize y’all’s thoughts in this tremor form.

Its the high pressure fuel pump on the drivers side of the engine. Ford put a rubber boot over it to help with noise. If it bothers you that much you will need to use your imagination. Maybe add the engine cover with some sound material attached under it.

Assuming you mean you are hearing the turbo? Also assuming you don't have a Lariat? I don't hear any sound like this, my ride is pretty quiet. But I don't have Tremor so not sure if it's different (shouldn't be for something like this). If it's a real problem you could try upgrading the windshield to the acoustical one on the Lariat?

I added the engine cover from a Lincoln Corsair as the ones for the Escort are NLA. It quiets things down a bit... There's an entire thread on this.

Don't ask me why but the engine seems to be a lot quieter whenever I run premium. Runs a lot smoother and has more power too.

I don't have any theories as to why this is because I am not a mechanic. If it bothers you that much it might be worth a try though.

Also, it will likely quiet down quite a bit when it gets warmer. I really only notice mine as being noisey when it is colder.

Well as a hotrodder, I can tell you any motor with less than 300 cubic inches of displacement sounds like a sewing machine to me. 4 bangers are the worst. But this is the modern era and you get what you get, atleast they make power.

My only real suggestion and this is the only real correct one is to check your radio dial. For one if your listening to a podcast, just cut that out right now:ROFLMAO:. But if you have the radio tuned in to some easy listening or something your gonna want to roll that over to something that has a lil more kick. Like AC/DC, Iron Maiden, BOC even 90s stuff like Soul Asylum, The Pixies, or Offspring will take care of any engine noises that 2.0 is capable of making. That should fix your ride up just fine.

You sound pretty fly (for a white guy).

Interesting, I have the Ford engine cover and I noticed zero difference with or without it.........

Embrace it. Get "Singer Manufacturing" stenciled on the front fenders.

@Sleeper 7 nailed it.

SSM 50960 is the issue the OP is describing. There is a service bulletin about it.
Here are the details describing the issue. FYI there is no fix for this "issue". It is the normal operation sound that the 2.0L Ecoboost engines make.

Ford Maverick Tremor sewing machine sound. Any fixes? ssm 50960

I guess there is two ways.

1 Reduce the sound or
2 Cover up the sound with other sound.

1
Lincoln Corsair engine cover
Lariat Acoustic windshield
Add after market sound azorbing material.

2
You could add a cat back exhaust.
