Thanks.....why did ford go and do something stupid like that? I finally figured it out but it wasn't easy. They should've just left it on the fordpass app. It was so much easier that way. Tha ks for the help.www.ford.com
You have to create an account then add your VIN to that account by clicking on Add New Vehicle. Once that is done you can add your own service records.

CB, worked great! I didn't think it was working, cause it took a little while to display that it was downloading. I did try the wifi approach first with out success. Thanks!I had the exact same issue.
Short version: use a USB and your computer to update Sync to the latest version. Guessing the old version doesn't work well with the updated app.
Long version: Like you, my truck would say "running" and its location would be on the interstate. It would eventually update, but would still say "running" now in the Home Depot parking lot. So, I took the following steps:
Note: I use Windows, and so my thumb drive was already in exFAT. I imagine Ford has instructions for Mac/Linux but I didn't bother looking.
- Cleared the cache and data on my phone for the app - didn't work.
- Turned off connection services on my truck.
- Turned on connection services on my truck - wouldn't turn back on.
- Reset connection services to factory - wouldn't turn back on.
- Master rest of Sync - connection services turned back on; app still not updating.
- Removed truck from app.
- Add truck back to app - failed.
- Installed update via USB by following instructions on Ford's website.
- Restarted the truck - turn engine off and back on.
- Add truck to app - worked.
- Watched as it went from "running" to "parked" in almost real time.
