Did you replace it yourself, have it done by Ford, or have it done by Safelite? Also, does your XLT have the luxury package? I am trying to work out whether there would be any sensor issues switching from one to the other. We have the heated seats and wipers, which means the base of the windshield warms up when the heated feature is in use. May I assume the acoustic glass used for Lariats includes that feature or do I need to ask for it? Does the XLT windshield have another other sensors? Thanks so much. We took a rock this week and have a large crack across the driver's side, and need to get the glass ordered. Looks like it'll take weeks to come in.

Also, I don't have the adaptive cruise control, so no recalibration needed, thankfully.
FYI All trims use the camera for certain safety features, even a bare bones XL.

I think the only in/glass features are on the Lariat/Lux - ACC/Cruise and De/Icer - When replacing the windshield in the L/Lux it needs to be recalibrated for the cruise control - A non issue with any other trim -

Hmmm...my Mini Cooper got a new windshield awhile back and it needed no calibration even though it has cruise control. What is it about the Maverick's cruise control that would require the windshield to be calibrated? I can see why it would be needed for Lane Assist, but we don't have that feature.

As far as I know, I only have a backup camera. But that camera sees out the back window, not the windshield, yes?

All trims have emergency automated braking feature that will stop if someone runs out in front of you (theoretically). All trims have that camera system, but may have different software enabled depending on your options, and some have additional hardware sensors for 360 package, etc.

But the camera is under the bigass black plastic trim piece above your rear view mirror, on all trims, there is no difference in that hardware part between trims. You can see if from outside your vehicle if you look straight-on at it, it's a bit small and subtle.

No all Mavericks have a Front Camera.

That camera is used for the "Automatic High Beam" and "Pre-Collision Assist".

Also if you have CoPilot-360 then the front camera is also used for the "Lane Keeping System"

All trims have front windshield camera.

also works for traffic sign recognition if you enable it.

Thanks! Gosh, not having 360 Co-pilot, I thought we had a relatively simple setup. LOL. Silly me. It sure seems like a stupid design to put something like a camera in a windshield, when it's so likely to take a rock and need replacement. A better design would be to have it just inside the windshield.

FYI, (our) insurance pays the extra to replace it with OEM instead of just Aftermarket. Yay! Haven't asked about Acoustic glass, but would be curious to know how much more it costs than OEM. Just wish I could be assured that I won't have to replace the windshield again in the coming year. (We have a hood deflector too!)

I see it now. Thank you.
I definitely would have designed it to be interior of the windshield, not part of that-which-takes-a-rock-and-cracks! Ha!

Or any real benefit
I almost spit out my coffee when I read that... My dad used to say that products like that make the vehicle lighter... primarily by lightening your wallet.

Paint protectants for $1,000... Cloth protectants for $500 – even for vinyl seats!... And of course the oh-so-effective "undercoating to prevent rust" – as if the manufacturers don't put that on EVERY car that comes off the assembly line... I'm probably forgetting a few of these "disguises for additional dealer markup".

And to be clear, ALL trim levels would require recalibration, since the camera is used for a lot more than just the adaptive cruise control available on the Lariat. We had a windshield replaced on our Chevy Impala (no ACC) and had to take it back for recalibration, because the "lane departure" and "collision imminent" warnings were going off constantly. After recalibration, it was back to normal.

So I have had my maverick xlt for 2 months now and already have a crack in it I’m in Ohio my deductible is 1000 and this windshield is freaking expensive I’ve called 9 places including safe light it’s 1300$ for a new windshield and calibration.. nope not paying that out of pocket for this to happen again so I feel stuck now with a brand new truck and very soft glass

Windshields/glass used to be covered without an additional insurance add on- Not anymore- I usually go with a $100 deductible- Too many busted windows in the land of many rocks (Utah)

That's pretty high. My total for my lariat Lux windshield and recalibration from Safelite was $866, I only paid $100 for my insurance deductible. This is in Oklahoma.
