13:1 ratio XLT vs Lariat complaints per trim level ...

Maybe being comfortable is worth $8,000-$10,000 ?

I think the Maverick seats are great. Much better than the 80’s Escorts I was driving in my 20’s.

70, 5',8" 160lbs. No issues in the truck cab, other than the steering seems a bit heavy on long trips.
Didn't know it was a cockpit. I thought that was in an airplane.

I'm shocked you feel this way. I'm around the same age as you (26) and around the same height (5'10") and I feel the Maverick is the most comfortable vehicle I've ever had. What I like most is how spacious it is. It's a very airy cabin so I never feel claustrophobic.

Cars nowadays have such tight, narrow interiors with thin windows, bulky dashes, low seats and high belt lines. The Maverick is a breath of fresh air since it has a high roof, big windows, low belt line, and just good overall ergonomics. The back seat is more spacious than a mid-size Ranger which is unfathomable to me. I would've thought it would be the other way around.

I have no issues with the pedal locations or seat lumbar. Maybe it's because I have the slightly nicer Lariat but I have sat in the XLTs and I feel those seats are actually more supportive. But I like tech which is why I went for the Lariat. It's been a great little truck. It's so good in fact I'm on my second one.

It's the comfiest vehicle my wife or I have ever owned. We love how roomy the floorboards are, the seats are just big enough for my wide body, and the XLT non lux has a really good amount of adjustment in the drivers seat. The passenger seat does lack the tilt/height adjustment but isn't too bad. I also love how moveable the steering wheel is for my different personal driving modes.

I’ve had my 2024 Hybrid XLT for some time now and I just cannot get comfortable in the thing. It seems that almost every time I drive the truck I am making seat &/or steering wheel adjustments trying to find the correct position for myself. I’ve never found it so hard to get comfortable in a car/truck before.

I’m 28 years old and have owned & driven all types of cars and trucks. The ergonomics of the Mavericks driver cockpit are all out of whack (in my opinion, of course). The gas pedal is further away than the brake pedal. Both pedals are too high. The seats lumbar support is too low. The bottom cushion of the seat is firm and angled up causing harsh pressure (over a short to medium amount of time. (e.g. 10min)). The steering wheel is angled away from the driver…I could go on and on.

I’m a 5’11” male weighing in at 170lbs. I feel like I’m a middle of the road human in terms of size & build. I should be able to get comfy in any vehicle, I’d think.

Personally I think the drivers cockpit is aweful in the maverick. Which is sad to say because besides that, I absolutely love the truck. It’s just a bummer because this is one of the most important parts of a vehicle and your experience with it.

How do you feel about your truck? Have you made any modifications to improve the comfort of your cockpit?
Damn. I just committed to doing an 16 hr. road trip from Thurs.-Sun this week. 8 hrs each way. I'll make some notes, but as I recall, it's not the best seat for long trips. Maybe the right seat cover would help. I don't think we're pretending it's a Forester or CRV in terms of comfort. Especially the XL/XLT.

The only difference between the seats physical design is the covers, doubt it matters. Power option, also available in XLT LUX not just the Lariat, doesn't change the cushioning.

I actually felt that way when I first started driving my truck almost 2 months ago. I had just lost my Chevy Avalanche, which had VERY comfortable seats. I have unusually short legs for my overall height, so I have less downward reach I guess?

What I ended up needing to get used to was sitting up higher than I did with other cars. With my wife’s minivan, it’s like I’m sitting inches above the road. In the Maverick, once I got used to sitting up higher, I was fine with the seat tilted up to reduce the pressure under my thighs.

^^^ this
30 min in the wife's 2020 Escape killed my thighs until I learned this trick and I'm over 6'. Perfect after adjusted up. Brought that forward to the Tremor and while they're not a comfy as my 95 SHO seats, they're not bad at all.

34, 6' 3" and 220lbs, 2022 Lariat Lux & my Maverick has to be the 2nd most comfortable vehicle I've owned out of about 30 different vehicles (second to my 2009 Flex Limited which is a yacht on wheels).

Granted, I also have Katzkin seat covers that were installed about a week after I bought the truck. The original seat covers weren't in the vehicle long enough for me to remember them, but I do remember the Katzkin covers being way more comfortable

Don't own one yet and have limited time in one ( or Ford trucks generally) but we had an old F150 at work where you had to lift your foot off the floor a good bit to use the brake pedal. No leaving your heel on the mat going from throttle to brake. I hated it

I feel the same way about most new cars- aerodynamic windshield rakes give us long dashboards, high door lines with small windows.... The chopped top looks can look good I guess but visibility sucks. The last Camaro is a great example of taking that design to the extreme. Sat in one at an auto show and couldn't imagine driving it daily. I read somewhere it's a reflection on our society being more aggressive and people wanting more of a rolling bunker ....who knows. Anyhoo the uprightness and visibility is one of the things I like about the Maverick. It's also one of the reasons I got a VW golf 8 years ago when I was looking for a smallish 4 door hatchback

I'm 6'4" and about 175 and was surprised how comfortable it is. So much so that it barely matters where the seat is positioned, I can still get in and drive. I did add washers under the front seat bolts to give it more lean when it is as low as it will go. I did a 400 mile trip last weekend and found it comfortable as well.

I am sure for a few hundred bucks a competent upholstery shop could change out your cushions and shape things more to your liking.

I find the weak point to be the transmission tuning in low gears.

I will give you the bottom seat cushion angle, and wish that the power seat would not hinge on he back and allow the front of the bottom cushion to raise and lower.

Other than that, I find Fords and the Maverick incredibly comfortable and the bottom seat cushion was a non issue for me after getting used to it. Maybe on long trips I wish I could adjust.

Comfort is a 9/10 for me.

I think it’s fine. Passenger seat feels like you are up high.
