As the title suggests, my tailgate has the factory spray-in liner applied and it makes an unpleasant sound, almost felt like the underneath is cracking, whenever I step on the tailgate to get into the bed.
Should I be worried about this?

I would double check to see if you got the unequal length tailgate cables. From the various photos on this forum I would be hesitant to step on my tail gate until I got 2 equal length cables attached.

I bet your noise is the flexing of the gate

No to judge if you are heavy weight guy............ but I have a friend that is 6-3 and 415 lbs when he steps into the bed of my F350 4x4 the suspension makes noise...grin and I cringe when he steps on the gate to get down

I am 140lbs so weight should not be a problem. I also noticed that stepping on different areas of the tailgate there is a noticeable difference in the level of sound. The inner area makes less noise though.

Considering the tailgate is rated for 500lbs, it should be okay. If it's not then I suspect that would be a warranty issue.

when I first stepped on my tailgate I heard the same thing…. Almost like a fiberglass flex/pop type sound…. I don’t have the spray in liner (or any liner at all)

Also ~140 lbs, and yeah the creaking was crazy and I wasn't comfortable with it. Although it seems to have gone away mostly. Was all over the tailgate the past couple days, and didn't notice it.

I heard it too when I went in the box to remove the snow. I just figured it was the spray in liner. I am 200lbs

Mine cracked/creaked the same way this weekend when loading my dirtbike. First time stepping on it I was like "wtf I hope it didn't crack/break lol. My wife and I instantly checked it out and didn't see anything. It didn't make the sound the 3rd time stepping on it.
