My solution for the flap gap on the left rear mudflap. I bought a 12x12 piece of kydex on Amazon, .080 thick. Link: https://www.amazon.com/Plastics-200...1&sprefix=12x12+piece+of+kydex,aps,129&sr=8-3

Had to cut about 1 inch off the side . Removed one upper plastic clip, and slid the piece of kydex up so it looks like the mirror image of the right side area behind the right flap.

Used a stainless 1/4 inch bolt and washers and a self locking nut to hold the top, and drilled 2 holes in the bottom and held with the extra clips from the mabett flap install.

I hope these pics show up, my computer skills are lacking. I got the install done quicker than trying to post this thread.

Why would Ford put an arch in the wheel well like that? I'm having a hard time understanding why they would do that.

I'd like to introduce you to Ford's accounting department, they have the answer for you.

I can only think the flap is open is to prevent exhaust heat build-up.

Any guesses as to whether Ford will address this area on the 2025 refresh? I like your solution by the way, very similar to what I did.

The right side has the storage cubby filling that area. The left side cubby would probably cover that area, I'm not sure. The xlt has the light and plug in on the cover , so no box. Seems like the aftermarket would have addressed this area, but my and others fix seem to be doing ok.
I don't think there is enough heat there to cause an issue, the kydex is cheap so if it de-forms, I have more. I got 4 12x12 pieces for $24.00 on amazon, from a company called 'plastic 2000'.

The "Cubby" is not large enough to cover the void.
I did a large cover (somewhat like, those posted on other threads). Over the 4th, i plan on removing it to see any result. This OP's idea will be considered.. ;)

Thank you!! I was being annoyed by that gap that just hits my eyes every time I look in that direction.

For anyone that is super super cheap like me, I found a normal ABS 12x12 sheet for $8 on Amazon:

It didn’t seem like the need was there for reforming the plastic with a heat gun, so normal ABS should work, correct?

Oh yea, plastic should work also.
I just figured I would find a use for some more kydex, don't know what , but something will crop up.
