B-pillar door applique replacement?

Can someone tell me about the rear door applique. something happened to mine where it looks like it got dimpled. Is this trim piece painted? Is it vinyl coated. Can it be sanded and repainted? Does anyone know how to remove it. Looks like a small bolt at the bottom, but I can't figure out the top.

It is just some tape, if you remove it you will find yellow paint under it. There is a thread recently showing how to remove it around here.

The reply previous to this one shows it's painted metal, part of the door outer skin, under the black vinyl. There is not a plastic piece or any part to replace other than matte black vinyl film. You can buy it in bulk on Amazon and do it yourself, or you can go to a local shop that installs ppf and vinyl graphics and have them do it.

Ford sells the piece, see item #2 in the diagram. will come with the vinyl already on it. just need to figure out how to change it. there is a bolt on the bottom, but can't see what's on top. I don't want to mess with trying to apply new vinyl, just change the piece out.

I would say 2 is a piece of vinyl and 3 is the plastic on the back of the cab on the outer edges of the rear glass.

There is no plastic piece, it is a pre-cut piece of vinyl. As shown on the video, when you remove it there is painted metal underneath. There is no plastic piece.

Gary, no matter how much you wish and hope that there is a plastic or metal piece to it, there is not. It is just a piece of pre-cut vinyl.

6x60 inch roll is 8 bucks. It might not match the other side perfectly but for 8 bucks and a half hour of your own time, I think that's probably still a better option and you could redo the other side also if desired.

Which is why I suggested it several replies ago...

Ok guys, now I understand. For the $69 price tag I was convinced it had to be more than just a piece of vinyl. What a rip off. Thanks guys for the education.
