Just returned from a 6k trip to Huntington Beach, CA and back to Statesboro, GA. We put 6K miles through desert, over mountains, up hills, rain, wind, and 108 temperatures. Our 2026 Maverick hybrid, FW did a fantastic job in comfort, quiet, and a smooth ride. The Blue Maverick averaged 35.5 mpg with no problems and responded to any situation with proper control and quickness. I can’t recommend this Ford vehicle more excitingly.

I just did 1800 miles from central Ohio to South Carolina and back.

2025 AWD hybrid 4k tow running 235 ATs.

I ran it hard. 85-90mph at some points but also some easy driving along the coast.

I averaged 29.6mpg which I think is great. I seriously question folks when they claim outrageous numbers with a Maverick when traveling at speeds on the highway. Everyone claims but nobody backs it up with fuelly or hand calculated numbers

You got 30 mpg because you were going 90 mph.

I got 42 mpg on my last 170 mile highway trip going 70 mph.

Normal combined in all temps is 38 mpg for me. That's over 12,500 miles directly tracked in Fuelly, again all types of driving in temps from 15* in the winter to 100* in the summer.

You DO know there are different highway speeds, don't you???

I feel like we've been through this before. Sigh. 😩

45 MPG at 60 mph Highway every day of the week.

What does 700 miles per tank mean to you?

My average speed for the entire trip was 45mph.

Folks don’t ever back it up with data when they claim 40s on the highway at 65-70mph

Just did a similar trip in my ICE from central MA to western SC and back. 1952 miles round trip. Car showed 32 even for the entire trip and calculated mileage was 31.4. I usually travel at 8 over the speed limit, with a limit of 75. On the trip home, left SC with a full tank, filled in VA just before crossing into WV then again when I got home. 481 miles on the 1st tank, with car showing 31.8, calc'd at 30.99. 2nd tank was 474 miles, car showing 34.00, I calc'd 33.24. Happy with those numbers.

I am not at all dissatisfied with my fuel efficiency. I just have yet to see someone post a long trip where their average speeds have been above 55mph and they achieve 40+ mpg.

I know I ran my Maverick hard in the WV and VA mountains and it was great especially the regenerative braking on the descents.

I think getting 30mpg with a full bed, another passenger, on 235 ATs, and running at speeds as high as 90mph is pretty awesome.

Glad to hear your Maverick performed so well. I love my 2025 XLT. Just over 20,000 miles and no problems. By the way, you left Huntington Beach too soon. Last weekend was the Huntington Beach Concours and Car Shows, a two day event that included Fabulous Fords Forever and the Pageant of the Thunderbird. Held at the Huntington Beach Central Park. For future reference, It's always held the first weekend in June.

That's what we owners of Mavericks wanted to hear. Someone to take a cross country trip, under all kinds of conditions, and was trouble free all the way! Also you got great mileage.

I doubt I will ever get 45 under any conditions, unless its all downhill. I hit 40 1 time in general driving. But, I am okay with it.

I echo the road trip goodness. My wife has a Volvo that cost twice what my Maverick does. My Maverick has more room and has vastly more comfortable seats (and Volvos are famous for comfy seats). For interstate road trips, I pick the Maverick every time.

Is that because you always drive fast? Have poor gasoline in your area? Or both?

Actually, I am pretty conservative with my driving. My RAV4 hybrid gets low to mid 40s, but the Mav just doesn't. It may be the addition of AWD and 4k towing package. Gas hasn't seemed to make any difference.

I am with you on this one. The best I every averaged was 40.6 mpg. I driver pretty conservative as well and mainly city with a small portion highway. Not sure how some others are achieving the mileage they get - unless they hypermile all of the time or just take the MPG from the dash.

Some people are "amazed" some people average 45 MPG or more.

Some people are "amazed" some people average 35 MPG or less (in a hybrid).

It's no mystery that how you drive followed by where you drive plays a big role. Fuel quality alone can account for 2 mpg. Outside temperature extreme either hot or cold = another 4 mpg.

It all adds up.

If I drove your vehicle on my route I'd get 50 MPG from it.

But you are there; I am here.
I have great conditions for fuel economy. Maybe you don't.

Those who come close to calling people liars are insulting. Please stop. You know who you are.
