The name of our truck which came from the 1970 Ford Maverick which is bovine in nature.
The original release date for the Maverick was supposed to be 2020, to coincide with the 50-year anniversary of the original maverick. Unfortunately covid happened.

As for the Dallas Mavericks.

The original logo was a cowboy hat, which sort of made sense. A cowboy hat is symbolic of a maverick personality.
At the 1980 NBA All-Star Game, league owners voted to admit the new team, with the team's name coming from the 1957–1962 TV western Maverick; the fans chose the title with 4,600 postcards received, beating Wranglers and Express. James Garner, who played the title character, was a member of the ownership group.

Had my Jeep TJ for 24 years now and always hated the stupid duck thing. Someone left me one of these a couple of years ago and gave to a little girl down the street. Can't stand them as well as the angry eyes in the grill.

Actually a maverick is an unbranded bovine. Bull, cow, or calf. Google Sam Maverick, San Antonio Texas. It was a way to steal cattle by Sam Maverick.
