Good deal. I was just looking on eBay and the cheapo filters are about $6 a piece.
I didn't see any Motorcraft, but I didn't look too deep in the listings.
EDIT: Motorcraft on eBay are about $26 with shipping.
So many uninformed people think when gas prices are high, the stations are "gouging" them.
The only gouging going on is the profits on Big Gulps, Cheetos and rubber hot dogs.
Percentage wise, gas stations make tons more profit on these things than on gas.
One of my part-time jobs I had to pay for college was at a Citgo station. I would come in at 6:00 AM on a Sunday before the station opened and stick the tanks, and putting that paste on the bottom of the stick to check for water. Later in the day the manager would call in the order for Monday...
There are too many variables in day-to-day driving to precisely measure MPG variance from brand to brand. It would take controlled conditions on a test track to accurately measure any differences.
An off-brand station might take it, specs unknown, at a discount price, but that's about .it. No "top tier" station would touch anything specs unverified.
Not very often. Gas stations know within a few hundred gallons how much gas is in the underground tanks, and that's how they determine how much to order for the next delivery.
I mentioned Refinery Exchange Agreements earlier.
Yes, for the most part the additives are different but very similar, such as Tide vs. Gain laundry detergent or Coke vs. Pepsi, etc.
Depends on the location. In big cities, the bulk terminals are usually integrated into the refinery operation. But in less populated/rural areas, yes each brand has its own bulk terminal, receiving gas deliveries by truck or sometimes pipeline.
I worked for 7 years for one of the old "7 sisters" oil companies.
Gasoline branding is a tricky subject. Not every gas station brand has its own refinery in every market. In many market areas, the companies use "exchange agreements" to get their supply of fuel, which means for example an Exxon...
Not sure where to post this, so I'll just put it here:
Just installed a rollup tonneau and a silly question occurred to me: if the cover is rolled up let's say half way, is there any risk of the cover rolling back on its own toward the tailgate when zipping down a freeway at 80 mph? Just...
