  1. Post your Maverick next to ridiculously large trucks - photos thread

Seems like I started something. A big thank you to all of you for following up with your insights and photos. My last truck was an old (2001) Tacoma. So I do feel like I'm driving a monster truck. Maybe my bias of thinking that I am king of the road needs some adjustment. Thanks to all again.
  2. This small?

This image at another thread does not seem right to me. It looks like photo trickery. Does another have other evidence in the way of a photo that shows the relative size? In the photo below if the Mav. is 6' wide, the truck on the right would be 11' wide. Doubtful.
  3. Article: Americans Obsessed That Bigger Trucks = Better. Ford Maverick Proves The Opposite... (I like it too)!

I'm what you might call a visual person. The photo at the start of this thread, IMHO, has the relative sizes of the 2 trucks in relation to the Mav., incorrect. Those big trucks are not twice as wide as the Mav. So either photoshop or a wide angle lens. It also seems like the Mav. though...
  4. Recalls are still breaking trucks btw

Our recall went fine. Tech showed up at our house. it is running great, 6k miles. Also, we tried premium gas (costco, less than mid grade elsewhere) and mpg seems to have gone from low to mid 40's to mid to high 40's.
  5. Milage and Downhill

Regarding fuel economy, it is strikingly better with premium on our hybrid. What used to return 44-45 is now returning 49-51. And the costco premium is less expensive than the gas station middle grade. 17 mile trip today, mostly freeway modest speed: 53. Worth it. I wonder if those who...
  6. Milage and Downhill

Thank you for the link. What I do not understand is why it would cause the engine to rev.
  7. Milage and Downhill

I have an observation and a question. Observation: Decided to fill up at Costco. They only have the low grade regular and premium. So got premium for 4.79/gal. That's about a dollar less than the medium grade I usually get at ordinary gas stations. What is surprising is the gas milage. I...
  8. Maverick among cars expected to have most recalls

We just had our second recall service on our '23. 20 minutes at our house by our dealers mobile technician. Last car I bought (99 Forester) had no computer. When you buy a phone or a computer, the software is good to go and no further changes are needed? Didn't think so. If you hear your...
  9. You know some people just wanna be a d**k

I doubt the other driver had anything to do with it. It was all the work of his truck, once it noticed the Maverick. Pretty much like the obese lady that can't get enough up close experience with the shapely one. Hoping that something will rub off. Not unusual for a RAM truck.
  10. Engineering Explained buys a Maverick and explains why the Maverick rocks

I stopped it after a few minutes. Too soon? Presenter seemed to me more driven by his social status/acclaim than engineering details. That said I love our truck.
  11. Maverick Hybrid Died on Freeway this Morning - Completely Unanticipated

Our Mac was a late 23, like June 23 manufacturing. I received a recall earlier in the year about turn signals and ignored it. I also received the early April recall and accepted. Ford dealer sent a technician out to our house, so very convenient. Took 30 minutes. Given the discussion about...
  12. Speed Check Ahead

So at the end of the day, is this message in essence a radar detector?
  13. Speed Check Ahead

I've looked for law enforcement vehicles and saw none. And why would there be a progress graphic if they were involved? Using apple maps.
  14. Speed Check Ahead

Traveling on the interstate now and then we get a message on the screen something like this: "Speed Check Ahead." Then soon there is a progress bar on the bottom of the screen. What is this? thanks, Donald
  15. Maverick just went haywire!

Yesterday I got recall notice 24c01. The problems described in the first post look like the problems the recall is trying to address. It is presented as something that sometimes can happen. We are getting our software update on Friday. Our dealer is sending someone to our house and they will...
  16. Rendering of 2025 Maverick facelift / refresh update

Sorry, that grill is a downgrade. Too busy. Too lacking in clarity of idea, which if you think about it, is the essence of the Maverick.
  17. Does clay bar wear down paint finish?

I see clay is somehow used in making vehicle look nice. When I think of clay I think of a mineral that is made of small particles which can abrade. Does it wear the finish to use a clay for polishing?
  18. Oh The Pressure

I'm having a relationship with our '23 XLT. This morning, while I'm in the living room having coffee, it sent a message to my cell phone. It said one of our tires was seriously low on air. Right. I went out and looked and it all looked ok. Then I had to move the truck from one side to the...
  19. The little light

I don't think so. It was emitted from inside the rear light group housing. That is not open to the inside of the cab.
  20. The little light

Good suggestion. If it turns up again I will. I almost did the last time. What I would really like to know, though, is whether there is something behind the cover amongst the other lights that could make a round, bright red light, in the middle of the group.
